Three individuals have been arrested under a court order in connection with an assault that took place in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
According to the police, the assault was reported to them at approximately 22:00 on the night of July 4, 2026. The suspects involved in the case were arrested on July 6, 2026.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case are:
- Shiyah Mohamed (26) – Atheena, S. Hithadhoo
- Mohamed Mahil Ahmed (18) – Boalhakinkirumage, S. Hithadhoo
- A 17-year-old minor
When presented to the court for their remand hearing, the court ordered all three individuals, including the minor, to be remanded in custody for a duration of 15 days.
The Maldives Police Service is currently investigating this case under the "Act on Prohibition of Gang-related Crimes and Other Dangerous Crimes."
The police assured the public that they will not tolerate any actions that disrupt community safety and security, and emphasized that they will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone involved in such crimes.
