President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration's steadfast commitment to youth empowerment, expressing strong confidence in overcoming existing hurdles to pave the way for tangible developmental outcomes.
Speaking during the fifth episode of "The Pulse," a podcast series produced by the President's Office, the Head of State engaged directly with the concerns of young Maldivians. He emphasized the indispensable role the younger generation plays in driving national development and shaping the country's future.
In his address, President Muizzu highlighted ongoing initiatives in education, economic development, and athletics. He announced an unprecedented nationwide expansion of sporting opportunities designed to foster a healthier and more active society, projecting that these targeted sports development programs will be successfully completed by the first quarter of 2028.
To bolster financial independence and foster entrepreneurship, the President detailed plans to introduce dedicated loan schemes aimed at increasing youth participation in business. He also addressed the challenges posed by undocumented expatriate workers, which have historically restricted local youth from entering certain sectors, detailing current administrative efforts to resolve these issues.
As part of the government's economic diversification plans, President Muizzu revealed an ambitious target to have the creative economy contribute 15 percent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the year 2030.
Concluding his remarks, the President reiterated that his administration's core philosophy is to prioritize Maldivians and nurture a highly skilled, capable youth demographic. He assured that finding a permanent solution to foreign labor issues would unlock substantial opportunities, yielding positive long-term results for the country's workforce.
