Maldives High Court Judge Ibrahim Mahir has honourably retired from the judiciary. Judge Mahir retired after serving in the legal field for more than 20 years.
Judge Mahir submitted his request to retire honourably from the post to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) last August. After reviewing the request, the JSC granted him permission to retire honourably under the Judges Act. Following that decision, he formally left the post from 6 September.
Judge Mahir began his service in the legal field on 9 November 2005. After first serving as a magistrate of the Magistrate Court, he was transferred to the Family Court as a magistrate on 23 May 2010. He later also served as Chief Magistrate of the Family Court.
Judge Mahir took the oath as a High Court judge on 25 September 2025. With his honourable retirement, a vacancy has now opened on the High Court bench, which comprises more than 11 judges.
