US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday, a day after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as Washington pushes efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Witkoff said the discussions were “substantive” and “important”, and that talks would continue “as long as it takes”. Kushner said there were hopes of finding new ways to advance peace.
Both sides have pledged not to strike each other’s capitals for three days to help the talks. Fighting has continued elsewhere, with Russia and Ukraine reporting fresh attacks outside the capitals.
