The Maldives and the United Kingdom have held important talks on what the two countries can achieve together going forward in the defence field, as part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The discussions took place during a special courtesy visit paid by Maldives Ambassador to the United Kingdom Jameela Ali Khalid to Minister of Defence and National Security Hassan Rasheed.
At the meeting held at the Defence Ministry, the two sides discussed further consolidating defence ties between the Maldives and the UK and additional areas where they can cooperate on security matters.
In addition, they exchanged views on enhancing the capabilities of the Maldivian armed forces and facilitating training opportunities.
Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy also attended the meeting alongside Defence Minister Hassan Rasheed, adding further weight to work being done in this field.
