Officials elected to key posts in the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) took the oath of office today.
They were sworn in at a special session held this afternoon as part of the PNC Congress. The ceremony was honoured by PNC president and President Dr. Muizzu.
Former Prosecutor General Muhtaz Muhusin administered the oath.
Those sworn in today included the party's deputy presidents, women members elected to the members' council, youth members and general members. Ten officials appointed to the leadership by President Dr. Muizzu under the party's basic rules also took the oath at the ceremony.
Among the principal figures in the PNC leadership are party chairperson and Speaker of the People's Majlis Abdulla Rahim Abdullah; deputy president and Vice President of the Republic Al-Usthaz Hussain Mohamed Latheef; deputy president and PNC parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah; Secretary General Moosa Fathhi Adam; Deputy Secretary General Mohamed Lam'aan; and Treasurer Hussain Fahmy.
The six officials elected as party deputy presidents are Minister Abdullah Rafeeu, Minister Ahmed Shiyam, Nilande constituency Member of Parliament Fathimath Sauda, Baarah constituency Member of Parliament Ibrahim Shujaau, Minister Mohamed Saeed, and President's Office Interpreter Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
Seven members appointed by the party president from among ministers and officials of ministerial rank, and three members appointed from among managing directors and chief executive officers of companies in which the government holds a stake, also took the oath. Other members elected to the Upper Council, as well as those elected to steering committees and constituency posts, were likewise sworn in.
