Iran warned on Sunday against any major new attack by the United States and its allies, saying it had information such a move was being prepared, and insisted the Strait of Hormuz will stay closed until Tehran’s conditions are met and Washington honours its commitments.
Iran’s military central command said on state media that a fresh assault would bring sustained strikes on US bases and interests, and that Washington’s regional allies would be treated as parties to the conflict. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Iran must both fight and negotiate, using military force to push back adversaries and diplomacy to lock in battlefield gains.
Tehran has sent seven conditions to the US through Qatar and is awaiting President Donald Trump’s response. Publicly cited demands include ending the war on all fronts, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and lifting the US naval blockade of Iranian ports. Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei said another US strike remains a real possibility, while stressing Iran wants the conflict ended as soon as possible.
The warning comes as Houthi strikes on Saudi targets, including around Riyadh and Yanbu, add to regional alarm, and after a US State Department alert flagged the risk of sudden Middle East escalation. Hormuz, a vital oil and gas shipping route, has been at the centre of the standoff since US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February; a June understanding to reopen it later collapsed.
