Seven people were killed and 40 others, including children, were injured in a strike on a market in Yemen's Taiz province on Sunday, according to reports cited by Firstpost.
The strike hit the Mawiya junction area of Taiz Central Market. Yemen's Houthi-run health ministry and local sources said commercial shops were struck and civilians were among the casualties. Yemen's internationally recognised government, which is backed by Saudi Arabia, said its forces had targeted a Houthi military camp and vehicles set up near the market.
The competing claims come amid a sharp rise in fighting between Iran-aligned Houthi forces and Saudi-backed units. The Taiz strike followed Saudi reports that air defences intercepted Houthi drones aimed at Riyadh and a ballistic missile towards southern Saudi Arabia.
Escalation has intensified since an informal truce that largely spared Saudi Arabia from Houthi attack since March 2022 broke down earlier this year.
