President Dr. Muizzu has said the full agreement for the "Maldives Waterfront and Marina" project, being carried out in Rasmalé by Eagle Hills, will be submitted to the relevant standing committee of the People's Majlis, as opposition parties continue to call for the agreement to be made public.
Speaking on the state media programme "Nation Chat", President Dr. Muizzu said a special bill on real estate tourism will be sent to Parliament, and that the bill will be opened for public comment before it becomes law. He noted that sending the agreement to the Majlis committee is akin to sending it to the public, and said the government is carrying out its work in a transparent manner.
Describing the opposition's claims as misleading, the President gave assurances that the Rasmalé project is not one the public needs to be concerned about or one that will cause any harm.
Although political parties have raised concerns that people from Israel could buy property under the US$20 billion project, which has been handed to Abu Dhabi's Eagle Hills, the government has previously said it will ensure that no party with links to Israel will be able to buy property there.
