Police have arrested Mohamed Aiman Ismail, a former councillor for Malé’s Maafannu South constituency and a member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), over an allegation of sexual abuse.
A media official at the Maldives Police Service confirmed the arrest to MMTV. However, police have not disclosed any further details about the case.

It is understood that Aiman was taken into custody in connection with a sexual abuse case in which he is the suspect.
Aiman previously served as the councillor for the Maafannu South constituency after contesting on an MDP ticket.
