The government has awarded contracts to establish waste management centres on the islands of Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo in Vaavu Atoll.
Wee Hour Investment Private Limited secured the contract to develop these centres, with Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Ahmed Nizam signing the agreements on behalf of the Ministry during a ceremony held Wednesday. Senior company officials also signed the contracts.
The Ministry of Environment has already provided essential equipment for the centres, including can-pressing machines and wood chippers, which have been handed over to the respective island councils.
The projects are valued at USD 194,553 and are scheduled for completion within 120 days.
