President Dr. Muizzu has said he will look into the salary problem facing computer technicians among IT staff in state institutions and work to find a swift solution.
He made the remarks in response to concerns raised by an employee through the "People's Voice" series run by the President's Office. The employee said changes to the state pay framework had not brought the adjustments sought for IT staff salaries.
According to the employee, computer technicians handle the entire IT infrastructure and operations, yet their basic pay and allowances are lower than those of administrative officers. He also said that while Public Service Rank 4 officers receive higher salaries, the increase granted last month after complaints amounted to only Rf 100.
Responding, President Dr. Muizzu said he was aware that pay equity for computer technicians had been lost, and that he accepted this as something that needs to be corrected. He said that while certain standards must be considered when setting the pay framework, he would further check how things stand in this particular case. He gave assurance that he would inform the Pay Commission and work to find a swift solution.
