Chelsea are reported to be at the front of the queue for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott ahead of the January transfer window, after the Premier League club saw several approaches for the player turned down during the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues still regard the 23-year-old England international as a top target and would be expected to lead any race for his signature should Bournemouth become open to a sale. The same report cautions, however, that completing a deal in the middle of the season could prove extremely difficult.
Bournemouth rejected a reported £64 million offer from Chelsea in July, insisting at the time that Scott was not for sale. Reports say Chelsea made further attempts before the window closed, with three bids knocked back in total. Scott is also reported to have turned down a new contract, with less than two years left on his current deal.
The midfielder has remained a regular starter for Bournemouth this season, has already scored in the Premier League, and was named in Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad for the Nations League matches against Spain, Croatia and Czechia.
Chelsea’s interest comes after the club lost Enzo Fernández to Manchester City late in the summer window, leaving Xabi Alonso with fewer established options in central midfield.
