President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that vehicle parking will be strictly prohibited on the newly redeveloped stretch of Malé’s outer ring road, Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The President made these remarks after inspecting the ongoing modernization work along the northern harbor front of Boduthakurufaanu Magu. The government revealed that although parking has been banned in the newly upgraded zone, rapid progress is being made to establish designated parking zones in nearby areas to accommodate motorists. Once completed, these parking spaces will ensure a safer and more convenient environment for both drivers and pedestrians.
Under the first phase of the road redevelopment project, all asphalt paving from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal has now been completed. Other key components of the project, including laying pavement blocks, painting road markings, and installing streetlights, are scheduled to be finalized in the coming days.
Contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the first phase of the project is targetted for completion and slated to open for public traffic on September 26. According to the government, the opening of this upgraded thoroughfare will heavily ease traffic congestion along the northern side of Malé.
