President Dr. Muizzu has said the government is working day and night to resolve the difficulties the public is facing in making transactions through online platforms.
When a member of the public raised concerns on the "Citizen's Voice" programme about being unable to make purchases from websites such as Temu, President Dr. Muizzu gave assurances that, God willing, a solution would be found.
The difficulties facing online shoppers and businesses arose after the Bank of Maldives (BML) set a monthly limit of USD 16 million on e-commerce transactions due to the dollar shortage. Under this, USD 3 million a month has been allocated to the category that includes Temu.
Public concern has grown as no further transactions can be made on a given day once the daily limit is reached.
