President Dr. Muizzu has said that everyone who meets the criteria under all of the categories set by the government will receive a plot of land in Rasmalé.
Speaking on the state media programme "Nation Chat", President Dr. Muizzu said that after checking the number of applications, it had been confirmed that Rasmalé will have enough space to provide land to all eligible applicants in every category announced for plot allocation, including the category for Malé residents, the Malé registry category and the category for people who have lived in Malé for 15 years.
Although the public has raised concerns over part of the Rasmalé land being handed to a foreign company, the President said that in addition to the project, 5,000 flats to be built in Hulhumalé by the same company will also be given to the public within the current administration's term.
He said work on the 5,000 housing units, which will be developed along with basic services at Urban Isle, will be completed and the units handed over by August 2028. The flats will be allocated to young people, resort workers and fishermen who have not yet received housing, he noted.
