Yemen's Houthis claimed on Saturday that they hit an oil facility near Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones, as flames and smoke were seen rising from an Aramco site south of the Saudi capital, Firstpost reported citing AFP.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the attacks set the targeted sites ablaze. An AFP journalist saw firefighters battling a blaze at Aramco's Riyadh refinery, with ambulances and police nearby. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the claim.
The group also accused Saudi forces of striking Sanaa dozens of times. Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reported 26 air strikes on the Yemeni capital; AFP correspondents there heard explosions and saw warplanes firing missiles.
Fighting has intensified since a fragile multi-year calm broke earlier this year. After seizing Yemen's Red Sea coast and the Bab al-Mandab strait, the Houthis have struck Saudi oil infrastructure and announced a naval blockade on Saudi shipping in the Red Sea.
